The Centre on Asia and Globalisation housed at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy continues its work on the S.T. Lee Project. As the international system continues to evolve at remarkable speed, the forums for international governance (UN, IMF and WTO) have failed to adapt. This project seeks to address the perceived institutional deficiencies within the international system and seeks to develop new solutions in global governance. The S.T. Lee Project is co-chaired by LKY Dean Kishore Mahbubani and long time PolicyNet partner Ann Florini (CAG Director and Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institute).
New Featured Blogger – Eric Acha
PolicyNet is pleased to introduce our new Featured Blogger, Eric Acha. A sample of his latest blog is available below:
“When celebrities join voices with other international organizations and civil societies in calling for the eradication of poverty through the doubling or tripling of foreign Aid to “poor” countries, very few actually get to understand the ramifications of such huge inflows of capital into a country… Even understanding the basic principles of economics may not even be enough to explain why flooding a country with foreign currency could rather suffocate the country’s economy rather than bolstering it as it is the popular belief… So the question I will be answering in the next posting will be: how good is foreign Aid, and how much is “good”? ”
